November 2022 Membership Meeting

The membership meeting included a delicious lunch at Acme Oyster House in Miramar Beach.

Chris Stowers, Executive Director, NWFSC Foundation of Northwest Fl. State College was our guest speaker. Chris recently came to Florida from Nashville TN. Chris’s career has focused on building dynamic teams and creating meaningful partnerships.

– The College is growing leaps and bounds with the introduction of many new programs. The Destin Woman’s Club Scholarship Fund was established in 1993 and centers around assisting women that are going back to school after being away a few years. Many of our recipients go into the nursing program.

Chris said that the nursing program at NWF State College is ranked #8 in FL.

The DWC gave the college a one-time gift or endowment of $36,133 to be used for scholarships each semester. The college manages/invests the money and has grown the balance to $69,339 (as of 6/30/2021) while also awarding scholarships totaling $27,367.
