Ashley Bailey, Crime Prevention Manager from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, spoke at the DWC Meeting in September 2022. Ashley started her career at the Sheriff’s office in November 2004. Ashley did a marvelous job of demonstrating her passion for developing numerous safety programs in Okaloosa County. Some of the items in her toolbox that she offers are Women’s Defense Courses, Cyber safety classes, avoiding scams and how to recognize them, Take Me Home, and I.D kits for Kids.

Topics discussed included the following:

– Social websites can be a connection to scams, so be sure to change your passwords and make them difficult.

– If on Facebook, make sure you connect with only friends and not the public.

– Lock your car and take any valuables inside your home. Car robberies are one of the leading crimes in our area.

– When you go grocery shopping, do not leave your purse in the grocery basket where you can be easily robbed when you look away. Take a small purse and keep it with you.

We can see why Ashley was awarded the Crime Prevention Practitioner of the year for the State of Florida in 2011. Ashley and her husband Tom have a son who is 11 years old. They enjoy spending time as a family.
